Turquoise Inside A Black Bezel
A bright dial with nothing beside it but black ceramic and steel.
A bright dial in a steel case usually has to compete: polished edges, a shiny bezel, a bracelet catching the light. Here the bezel is black, so the turquoise is the one colour on the watch, and it reads from across a room.
The dial is one even turquoise from the centre to the edge. The white luminous markers sit in polished steel surrounds: round dots, a triangle at twelve, bars at six and nine, and the date at three in a white window under a magnifying lens.
The same turquoise fills the numerals and minute bars on the black bezel, so the colour carries out past the crystal instead of stopping at the edge of the dial.

The bezel turns in one direction only, with a positive click. Line the triangle up with the minute hand when you start something, and the scale tells you how long it has been. Knock it by accident and it can only show more time gone, never less.
The insert is black ceramic. Its numbers run 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 in turquoise, with turquoise bars between them and the first fifteen minutes marked off one by one. At zero sits a triangle with a luminous pip, the one mark you can find in the dark.
The rim is cut with a coin edge, fine ridges all the way round, so your thumb has something to grip. Below it, guards on either side of the case protect the screw-down crown.
