40MM BLACK DLC · AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH · PAINTED CIRCLE DIAL
Playful Colour, Strict Rules
A dial of bright circles is easy to get wrong. This one is held in order by a navy line and a black frame.
Put six bright colours on a small round face and it usually ends up looking like a toy. What stops that here is a set of rules the painting keeps to.
The first is the outline. Every circle, large or small, is ringed in dark navy, so the edges stay sharp even where three circles overlap. The second is space: the circles crowd the bottom and sides of the dial but thin out under twelve, leaving calm turquoise where your eye lands first.
The third is the frame. A glossy black bezel, a satin black case, a black steel bracelet. With that much black around it, the colour looks deliberate rather than loud.

THE INSTRUMENT
Underneath The Colour, A Proper Chronograph
White on black round the bezel, polished steel on the dial, three working counters.
The bezel is glossy black with its tachymeter scale in bright white, numerals, triangles and ticks alike, so you can time a measured distance and read your speed straight off it.
On the dial, the hands and baton markers are polished steel with white luminous fill, and the three counters at three, six and nine are black rings with white numerals in steel rims. The circles show through their centres, but the numbers stay easy to read against the black.
The counters are live. Start the chronograph with the top pusher and the centre hand sweeps over the circles, while the thirty-minute counter at three keeps the tally.
How A Dial Of Circles Is Painted
Order first, colour second. The navy line goes on last and decides whether the whole thing works.
The Turquoise Ground
The dial is laid in sky-blue turquoise and given a fine velvet grain, so the finished face is soft and matte rather than glossy.
Circles Placed
The circles are mapped before any colour goes on: dense across the lower half and both sides, sparse under twelve so the printed lines have room.
Colour Blocked In
Red, orange, dark green, pink and pale blue are filled in circle by circle. Where two overlap, one is painted cleanly over the other so the layering reads.
The Navy Outline
A dark navy ring is drawn round every circle. It is the slowest stage and the one that matters most, because without it the colours would blur into each other.
Counters, Hands, Frame
Three black counters are set over the painting, the polished steel hands and markers go on, and the dial goes into its black case under a glossy black bezel.

Bright colour is the easy part. Keeping it sharp, spaced and framed so the watch still reads as a serious chronograph is where the work went. It arrives with a collector's box, the tools and a second bracelet, and asks $799.
WHAT YOU GET
40mm black DLC-coated steel, a hand-painted turquoise dial of navy-outlined circles, a glossy black tachymeter bezel marked in white, polished steel hands, a solid steel bracelet in black. Inspected by hand and covered by a two-year guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a fun watch or a serious one?
Is this a fun watch or a serious one?
Both, which is the point. The dial is pure colour, but everything around it — the tachymeter bezel, the three counters, the polished steel hands, the black steel bracelet — belongs to a working chronograph. It sits as easily under a suit cuff as it does with a T-shirt.
Is the pattern painted or printed?
Is the pattern painted or printed?
Painted by hand. The turquoise ground has a fine velvet grain, the circles are filled colour by colour, and each one is ringed in dark navy.
What colours are in the circles?
What colours are in the circles?
Red, orange, dark green, pink, pale blue and turquoise, on a sky-blue turquoise ground. The black counters and the white bezel numerals frame them.
Can I read the time easily with all that colour?
Can I read the time easily with all that colour?
Yes. The hands and markers are polished steel with white luminous fill, and they stand out clearly against the turquoise. The area under twelve is kept almost clear of circles, so the top of the dial stays calm.
What is the scale on the bezel for?
What is the scale on the bezel for?
It is a tachymeter. Start the chronograph as you pass one marker, stop it a kilometre or a mile later, and the bezel beside the centre hand gives your average speed. The numerals are white on glossy black, so they read at a glance.
What arrives in the box?
What arrives in the box?
A collector's box, a watch tool kit and a second bracelet come with the watch. That is the complete set the factory ships.
Does it need a battery?
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — it winds from the motion of your wrist. Left off for a couple of days it stops, and a minute back on the wrist restarts it.
How long does delivery take?

Ten to eighteen days to most countries, fifteen to twenty-five inside Iraq. Shipping is free, tracked and insured, and you get the tracking number as soon as it leaves us.
Can I ask questions before I order?
