40MM BLACK DLC · AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH · RAINBOW STONE BEZEL
Two Statements On One Wrist
A painted animal inside, a rainbow of baguette stones outside, and black keeping them apart.
Either half of this watch could have been the whole idea. A painted tiger dial is a statement. A bezel of rainbow baguettes is a statement. Put both on one watch and the risk is that neither gets looked at properly.
What keeps them apart is black. A thin matte-black rim runs inside the stones and another outside them, so the ring of colour has a clean edge on both sides. The case and bracelet are black. The counters are black rings. Every bright thing on the watch has black around it.
And the two halves share a palette. The yellow of the tigers, the blue of the fronds and the red of the berries all appear in the rainbow, so the ring looks like it belongs to the painting rather than being fitted round it afterwards.

THE DIAL
Tigers In Blue Leaves
Flat, graphic yellow and black, woven through royal-blue and cyan palm fronds and red berries.
There is no single tiger portrait here. Several tigers are woven through the leaves: bodies wrapping round the left and right sides of the dial, a face with an open red mouth just right of twelve, and another face with a paw inside the counter at six.
The style is flat and poster-like, solid yellow and bold black stripes with no shading trying to look real. Royal-blue and cyan palm fronds fill the spaces between them, dotted with small red berries, the biggest cluster at ten o'clock.
Over the painting sit polished steel hands and markers, each carrying a white luminous fill, so the time stays readable through all that pattern. The three counters are black rings with white numerals, and the tigers carry on underneath them.
How A Rainbow Bezel Is Set
Getting the colours in the right order is harder than setting them.
Sorted By Colour
The baguettes are laid out and sorted by shade, red through orange, yellow, green, blue and violet to pink, so each one steps smoothly into the next.
Matched For Size
Every stone is a rectangle, and every rectangle has to match its neighbours. One that is a fraction too long leaves a gap or a lifted edge further round.
The Bezel Prepared
The bezel is cut to take one continuous row, with a thin black rim left standing inside the stones and another outside them.
Set One By One
The stones go in one at a time, in their sorted order, clockwise all the way round until the pink closes back onto red at twelve.
Checked Against The Dial
The finished ring is checked for colour order and gaps, then fitted over the tiger dial with its polished steel hands and black counters.

Why Two Loud Things Do Not Clash Here
A hand-painted dial and a fully set rainbow bezel are two separate pieces of work, and they usually turn up on two separate watches. Here they share one, with the collector's box, the watch tools and an extra bracelet, for $799.

40mm black DLC-coated steel, a hand-painted tiger dial in yellow, black, blue and red, a bezel of rainbow baguette stones with no numerals, polished steel hands and a solid black steel bracelet. Each one looked over by hand before it leaves, with two years of guarantee behind it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there no scale on the bezel?
Why is there no scale on the bezel?
Because the stones took its place. A tachymeter needs a ring of numbers, and this bezel is given over entirely to one row of baguettes. The chronograph still works: you time with the pushers and read the counters on the dial.
Are the rainbow colours in a set order?
Are the rainbow colours in a set order?
Yes. Read clockwise from twelve they run orange-red, orange, amber, yellow, pale yellow, lime, olive green, royal blue, violet-blue, purple, lavender and magenta pink, then close back to red at twelve. No colour sits out of place.
Is the tiger painting realistic?
Is the tiger painting realistic?
No, and on purpose. It is flat and graphic, like a poster: solid yellow tigers with bold black stripes among royal-blue and cyan palm fronds and red berries. That clean style is what lets it sit next to a bezel of stones without the two fighting.
How many tigers are on the dial?
How many tigers are on the dial?
Several, woven through the leaves rather than one big portrait. Look for the face with the open red mouth just right of twelve, the bodies wrapping both sides, and a face and paw inside the counter at six.
Is it too much for everyday wear?
Is it too much for everyday wear?
It is a loud watch, and it is meant to be. The black case and black steel bracelet do a lot of calming, though: from the side it reads as a black chronograph with a flash of colour at the bezel edge.
Does it come with anything else?
Does it come with anything else?
Yes — a collector's box, a set of watch tools and an extra bracelet travel with it.
Does it need a battery?
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — it winds from the motion of your wrist. Left off for a couple of days it stops, and a minute back on the wrist restarts it.
How long does delivery take?
