Most tachymeter bezels are printed or pad-stamped onto an aluminium ring. It looks correct for a year or two, then the numerals thin out where your cuff catches them and the black turns grey in strong sun.
This ring is ceramic, fired from powder into a blank that is harder than hardened steel, then cut with diamond tooling because nothing softer will touch it. The scale is engraved into the fired surface and filled with a pale metal, and the face is lapped flat afterwards, so the numbers sit inside the material rather than on top of it.

Powder Into A Ring
The bezel starts as ceramic powder, pressed into a ring and fired until it is harder than steel. It shrinks in the kiln, so every blank is cut to size only after it has cooled.
Cut With Diamond
The tachymeter scale is engraved into the fired ceramic with diamond tooling, because nothing softer will cut it. There is no correcting a slip — a bad ring is scrapped, not reworked.
Numerals Filled
Pale metal is deposited into the engraving and the face is lapped flat, leaving the numbers level with the surface and locked inside it.
The Dial Lacquered
Pink lacquer goes on in thin coats, cured between each, until the colour is even across the whole blank. Then the three counters are recessed and ringed in black.
