Gold-tone chronograph with a pink mother-of-pearl dial and Roman numerals on a dark walnut desk beside a fountain pen

40 MM GOLD-TONE CASE · PINK MOTHER-OF-PEARL · TACHYMETER BEZEL

A Pink That Changes Every Time You Look

A shell dial in soft pink, with a light that moves as the wrist does.

Most pink dials are painted. The colour is flat and fixed, and it looks the same at noon as it does by lamplight. That is fine, but it is also the end of the story.

This dial is mother-of-pearl, cut thin and laid under the crystal. Its pink is not one colour but many: soft bands, paler bands, and flashes of white that come and go as the watch tilts. You never quite see it the same way twice.

Around it, everything is kept simple so the shell can do the work: a polished gold-tone case, a gold-tone bezel engraved in black, gold hands and gold numerals. The warm metal makes the pink look warmer too.

THE DIAL

Roman Numerals, And A Four Written The Old Way

Applied gold-tone numerals at eight hours, with square markers where the counters sit.

Where most chronographs mark the hours with plain batons, this one uses Roman numerals, applied in polished gold tone with proper serifs. They sit at one, two, four, five, seven, eight, ten and eleven, each turned to face the centre of the dial.

The four is written IIII, not IV. It is an old watchmaker's habit, and it balances the VIII across the dial. At three, six and nine, where the counters reach the edge, small square gold markers take the numerals' place.

The three counters are pink shell too, each inside a slim gold ring with a paler outer track and crisp black numerals — marked to twelve at nine, to thirty at three and to sixty at six.

How A Shell Becomes A Pink Dial

The mother-of-pearl is cut and chosen before a single numeral goes on.

STAGE 01

Cut From Shell

The dial starts as a thin disc of mother-of-pearl. Its bands and flashes come from the shell itself, so no two discs are patterned quite alike.

STAGE 02

Colour Chosen

Each disc is picked for an even pink with plenty of movement in it, so the shimmer reads across the whole dial rather than in one corner.

STAGE 03

Numerals Applied

Gold-tone Roman numerals are laid onto the shell at eight hours, the four written IIII, with square markers at three, six and nine.

STAGE 04

Counters And Print

Three counters are ringed in gold and printed in black, and a fine black minute track is printed round the edge of the dial.

STAGE 05

Case And Strap

The dial goes into the 40 mm gold-tone case under the engraved tachymeter bezel, and the watch is fitted to a pink lizard-grain leather strap with a gold-tone folding clasp.

Why It Stands Apart From Other Gold Chronographs

A shell dial asks for patience: choosing the disc, then keeping everything around it quiet enough to let it shine. This one gets both right, and it is yours for $999.

Frequently Asked Questions

check_box

Is the dial really mother-of-pearl?

Yes. The dial is cut from mother-of-pearl, which is why the pink shifts and flashes white as you tilt it. A printed or painted dial stays one flat colour.

check_box

Is the pink bright or soft?

Soft. The shell's pink is a gentle rose, lifted by white flashes as it moves, and the lizard-grain strap is a shade brighter, so the dial reads as the calmer of the two.

check_box

What size is it, and will it suit a smaller wrist?

The case is 40 mm across. It is a unisex size: substantial on a man's wrist, and not oversized on a woman's.

check_box

What is the scale on the bezel?

A tachymeter. Start the chronograph at a marker, stop it a kilometre or a mile later, and the bezel gives your average speed in units per hour, from 400 down to 60.

check_box

What movement does it use?

A high-precision automatic chronograph movement. It winds itself as you wear it, needs no battery, and the chronograph starts, stops and resets from the two pushers.

check_box

What is the strap?

Pink leather with a lizard grain of small rounded scales, stitched in pink and lined in cream, closing on a gold-tone folding clasp.

check_box

Does it need a battery?

No. It is automatic — it winds from the motion of your wrist. Left off for a couple of days it stops, and a minute back on the wrist restarts it.

check_box

How long does delivery take?

Ten to eighteen days to most countries, fifteen to twenty-five inside Iraq. Shipping is free, tracked and insured, and you get the tracking number as soon as it leaves us.

check_box

Can I ask questions before I order?

Yes, and we would rather you did. Message the page on Facebook or Instagram — a real person answers, usually within the hour.
