White Carbon, Layered Like A Map

Fine dark lines run along the stepped flanks, straight and even, where the layers of the carbon meet.

Most white watches are white on the surface: paint or a coating over something else, and a hard knock on a corner shows what is underneath.

This case is white forged carbon, white through the material. It is built up in layers, and where the case is cut across them the edges surface as thin dark lines. Along the stepped flanks they run fine and parallel, like the contour lines on a map; over the lugs, where the case curves, they bend and spread. The lines on your case will fall differently from the ones in the photographs.

The bezel is black forged carbon marbled in grey, with the tachymeter scale printed in white and UNITS PER HOUR in yellow. The crown and both pushers are black too, each pusher topped with a polished steel button.

THE DIAL

Cream, Red-Orange And One Yellow Counter

A cream dial in a broad red-orange ring, two black counters, and a racing number at six.

The dial is cream, warm rather than stark white, and a broad red-orange minute ring runs round its edge, printed with black strokes. Against the black bezel the red reads brighter than it would on its own.

At three and nine sit two black counters, cut with fine circular grooves that catch the light as the watch turns. At six the colour changes: a solid yellow counter in a polished steel ring, with a big black 73 across its lower half, like the number on a race car's door.

The hour markers are applied steel with white lume, pointed at their inner end, with small squares at three, six and nine. The hour and minute hands are steel with white lume, and the central chronograph hand is slim and yellow, the same yellow as the counter.

How The 73 Dial Comes Together

A cream dial, a red-orange ring and a yellow counter, fitted inside a white carbon case.

STAGE 01

The Cream Dial

The dial is finished in a warm cream with a fine matte grain, so the print and the steel markers sit on it without glare.

STAGE 02

The Red-Orange Ring

A broad red-orange minute ring goes round the edge, printed with black strokes in two lengths.

STAGE 03

Two Black Counters

The counters at three and nine are black, cut with fine circular grooves and printed in white.

STAGE 04

The Yellow 73

The counter at six is solid yellow, set in a polished steel ring, with the 73 printed large and black across it.

STAGE 05

Into The White Case

The lumed steel markers and hands go on, with the yellow chronograph hand, and the dial is fitted into the white carbon case under the black bezel, with the automatic chronograph movement behind it.

Why It Stands Out

White carbon has to be white from the first layer, because nothing is sprayed over it afterwards. Put a cream dial inside it, ring it in red-orange and give it one yellow counter with a racing number, and the whole watch reads like a livery. It asks $999.

Frequently Asked Questions

check_box

Is the white case painted?

No. It is white forged carbon, white through the material. Look along the side and you will see thin dark lines following the case, the edges of its layers. Paint would cover them.

check_box

Why is the bezel black?

To frame the dial. A black forged-carbon bezel between the white case and the cream dial draws a hard dark ring round the face, and the yellow UNITS PER HOUR on it picks up the counter at six.

check_box

What is the 73 on the dial?

A racing number, printed large and black on the solid yellow counter at six, like the number on a race car's door. It is part of the dial, not a date and not something you set.

check_box

What do the pushers do?

The two pushers beside the crown start, stop and reset the yellow central chronograph hand. Like the crown they are black, each with a polished steel button on top.

check_box

What is the strap made of?

Black woven canvas, with a single red stitch line down each long edge.

check_box

Does it need a battery?

No. Inside is a high-precision automatic chronograph movement: it winds itself as you wear it, with no battery to change.

check_box

How long does delivery take?

Ten to eighteen days to most countries, fifteen to twenty-five inside Iraq. Shipping is free, tracked and insured, and you get the tracking number as soon as it leaves us.

check_box

Can I ask questions before I order?

Yes, and we would rather you did. Message the page on Facebook or Instagram — a real person answers, usually within the hour.
