WHITE FORGED CARBON · BLACK CARBON BEZEL · RAINBOW RING · AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH
White, Then Black, Then Every Colour
From the outside in: a white carbon case, a black forged-carbon bezel, and a rainbow round a glossy black dial.
Put a rainbow straight against a white case and the colours wash out. This watch puts two bands of black in between: the forged-carbon bezel, marbled in grey with its tachymeter scale in white, and the glossy black of the dial itself.
So the colour sits where it reads best. The ring runs round the edge of the dial in six equal arcs, red from twelve, then orange, yellow, green, blue and violet, with fine white minute strokes printed over every one. Everything inside the ring is black, grey and white, with yellow the only colour let in.
Outside, the white case has a texture of its own: thin dark lines running along the flanks where the layers of the carbon meet, and a polished steel crown and pushers on its right-hand side.

THE DIAL
Counters Grooved Like A Record
Anthracite grey, cut with fine circles, each trimmed in yellow, under a winged emblem in white.
Look closely at the counters and they are not flat. Each is anthracite grey, cut with fine circular grooves that catch the light in rings as the watch moves, with white numerals on top. The counters at nine and three are ringed in solid yellow; the one at six carries its yellow as a circle of short strokes.
The central chronograph hand is yellow as well, with an arrow at its tip and a teardrop counterweight, and when the chronograph runs it is the brightest line on the dial. The hour and minute hands are polished steel with white lume, matching the markers.
Under twelve sits a winged emblem, printed in white with every feather drawn in fine black line.
How A White Carbon Case Gets Its Lines
The white goes in before anything is cut, and the lines on the flanks show how.
Built In Layers
The case starts as white carbon material built up layer on layer, with a fine dark line wherever one layer meets the next.
Cured Solid
Heat and pressure cure the layers into one block. From here the colour cannot change, because it is the material itself.
Cut Across The Layers
The case is machined from the block. As the cutter follows the flanks and lugs it crosses the layers, and their edges surface as thin lines along the case.
The Black Bezel
The bezel is cut from black forged carbon and printed with its tachymeter scale in white. It is the only dark part of the case.
Dial And Movement
The rainbow dial goes in with its yellow-trimmed counters, then the hands, with the automatic chronograph movement behind them. The polished steel crown and pushers go on last.

Why The Rainbow Needs The Black
It is a lot of colour for one dial, and it still reads at a glance, because the colour is fenced in: black carbon outside it, glossy black inside it, white carbon round the whole thing. It asks $949.
THE WHITE RAINBOW SPEC
