40MM FORGED CARBON · AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH · GREEN SUNBURST
The Dial Changes Colour Every Time You Move Your Arm
Sun-brushing throws the light outward, so one green reads as several.
A flat green dial is one green, all day. A sun-brushed one is not: the surface is brushed in fine lines radiating from the centre, so each line catches the light at a different angle and the colour sweeps as your wrist turns.
Under a lamp it goes almost black at the edges and bright bottle-green across the middle. In daylight the bright band moves as you move. Nothing is printed to make that happen — it is the finish itself.
The case around it is forged carbon, its grey swirl running through the material rather than sitting on the surface, so nothing about this watch is a coating.

THE DIAL
Green Counters On A Green Dial, Kept Apart By Black
The sub-dials share the dial's finish and are separated by rings instead of a second colour.
The easy way to make three counters readable is to make them a different colour. This dial refuses that. The counters are cut from the same sun-brushed green as the dial and dropped into black rings, and the rings do all the separating.
The result is a face that stays one colour and still reads cleanly — and because the counters are brushed from their own centres, they catch light at a different angle from the dial behind them. Turn your wrist and they light up out of step with it.
Applied markers and hands are polished steel filled with white lume, and the bezel carries white numerals on carbon.
How A Sunburst Dial Is Finished
The effect is cut into the metal. It cannot be printed on.
Blank Turned Flat
The dial blank is faced perfectly flat first. Any dish or high spot will show as a dark smear once the brushing starts.
Brushed From The Centre
An abrasive wheel cuts fine lines radiating outward from the middle. The pressure must not vary, or the sunburst has a band across it.
Coloured And Lacquered
Green is laid over the brushed metal and sealed. The lines stay visible through the colour, which is what makes the light sweep.
Counters Brushed Separately
Each sub-dial is brushed from its own centre, then set into a black ring. That is why they catch the light out of step with the dial.
Markers And Casing
Polished markers are applied and filled with lume, then the automatic chronograph movement goes in and the watch is run and regulated.

Why Photographs Never Quite Get It
A sunburst has to be cut into a perfectly flat blank at constant pressure, and one slip puts a band across the dial that no amount of colour will hide. This one arrives finished and boxed, and asks $949.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the green look different in every photo?
Why does the green look different in every photo?
Because it is sun-brushed. Fine lines cut outward from the centre catch the light at different angles, so the colour genuinely changes with the angle you hold it at. Every photograph catches one position out of hundreds.
Are the counters a different green?
Are the counters a different green?
No — the same finish. They are brushed from their own centres, so they catch the light out of step with the dial, which makes them look like a different shade depending on how you turn it.
Is the case really carbon?
Is the case really carbon?
Yes. The grey marbling runs through the material, so a scratch shows more carbon. It is also considerably lighter than a steel case of the same size.
Does it need a battery?
Does it need a battery?
No. It is a high-precision automatic — it winds from the motion of your wrist. Off the wrist for a couple of days it stops, and a minute back on starts it.
Does the chronograph work?
Does the chronograph work?
Yes. The two pushers start, stop and reset it, and the counters on the dial are the ones that move.
Does it glow?
Does it glow?
Yes. The markers and hands come up white in the dark while the green dial goes black around them.
