Black Markers On Orange, And Not A Drop Of Lume In Them
The hour markers are left black on purpose, and only the two main hands carry lume.
Nearly every sports watch fills its hour markers with white lume, and on most dials that is the right call. On a bright orange dial it would scatter a ring of white dashes across the colour and break it up.
So the markers here are black: polished, faceted batons with a thin bright edge that catches the light as the wrist turns. Against the orange they read as hard black cuts, and black on bright orange is about as easy to read as two colours get. The orange itself stays one unbroken field from edge to edge.
The white is saved for the hour and minute hands, both framed in black around luminous filling. Apart from the date, they are the only white on the dial, which puts them exactly where the eye lands first.

THE DIAL
The Grooves Stop Where The Words Begin
Orange grooved straight across, a sandy grain between the lines, and print in a maroon so dark it reads as black.
Look closely and the orange is not flat. Straight horizontal grooves run across it, and between them the surface has a fine sandy grain that gives the colour a dry, dense texture up close.
Where a word is printed, the grooves stop. A small smooth panel is left behind each one, so the lettering sits on a flat surface instead of breaking over the ridges. It is the kind of detail you only find with a loupe, and it is there behind every word.
The print is a very dark maroon — nearly black at arm's length, warmer than black up close — and it appears in only four places. Everywhere else is grooved orange with nothing on it.
How An Orange Dial With Black Markers Comes Together
Every step is about keeping the orange clean, and the markers go on last.
Grooved Straight Across
The dial blank is cut with straight horizontal grooves, with small panels left smooth wherever a word will be printed. Those panels have to be planned before the first line is cut.
The Grain Between
The flats between the grooves are given a fine sandy texture. It is what makes the orange look solid rather than shiny when light falls across it.
One Even Orange
The colour goes on evenly from edge to edge. An orange that drifts toward red at the rim, or toward yellow in the centre, is not this dial.
Maroon Print, Four Places
The lettering is printed in a very dark maroon, onto the smooth panels only. There is no minute track and no scale, so nothing else is printed.
Black Markers, Then Hands
The polished black batons are applied, doubled at twelve and left out at three for the date window. The lumed hands go on last, and they are the only luminous parts on the dial.

Why The Markers Are Black
Leaving the lume out of the markers was a decision, not a saving: it keeps the orange whole and gives the job of telling the time to the hands. A dial built with that much restraint around that much colour asks $1,099.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't the hour markers glow?
Why don't the hour markers glow?
They were made without lume on purpose. White-filled markers would scatter white across the orange; black batons keep the dial a single colour. The hour and minute hands do carry white luminous filling.
Is the lettering black?
Is the lettering black?
It is a very dark maroon that reads almost black. Up close it is warmer than black, which is why it sits so quietly on the orange.
Is the orange the same across the whole dial?
Is the orange the same across the whole dial?
Yes. It is one even orange from the centre to the edge, with no shading toward red or yellow. What changes as you tilt it is the light on the horizontal grooves.
Is the case painted?
Is the case painted?
No. It is forged carbon, and the silver-white veins are part of the material. The loops form when the carbon is pressed, so the ones on your case will differ from the photographs and from every other watch.
How does it feel on the wrist?
How does it feel on the wrist?
Carbon has a light feel on the wrist, and the surface is smooth and warm to the touch rather than cold like polished steel.
Where is the date?
Where is the date?
At three o'clock, in a thick black frame with black numerals on white. The marker that would sit there is left out to make room for it.
Does it need a battery?
Does it need a battery?
No. It is automatic — it winds from the motion of your wrist. Left off for a couple of days it stops, and a minute back on the wrist restarts it.
How long does delivery take?
