Inside is an \u003cstrong\u003eautomatic jumping-hour movement\u003c\/strong\u003e: the hours are numbered out of order, and the hour hand jumps to each in turn, so at ten o'clock it points at the 10 wherever the 10 happens to be. The minute hand runs round as on any watch.
